Under 6’s & 7’s
At this stage, the focus is primarily on building their interest and understanding of fundamental sports skills and concepts, the emphasis is on basic movements, such as running, jumping, throwing, and catching. Coaches will strive to develop their motor skills, coordination, and spatial awareness. Additionally, this age group begins to lay the foundation for transferable skills, including teamwork, sportsmanship, and discipline, which can be utilized in various sports and activities throughout their lives.
Under 8’s & 9’s
Players are still developing their understanding, they have better control over their movements and can coordinate their bodies more effectively. Coaches at this stage shift their focus towards ball mastery abilities, and players are encouraged to practice and improve their dribbling, kicking, passing, and receiving skills. This age group aims to enhance their technical skills, allowing them to manipulate the ball efficiently and with confidence, the focus is on individual player development while still emphasizing teamwork and cooperation.
Under 10’s & 11’s
Coaches begin to cultivate a sense of awareness and teamwork among the players, the focus shifts from individual skills to understanding the importance of team dynamics and coordination. The players are encouraged to develop a sense of unity and synergy. Working on positioning, communication, and decision-making abilities in order to benefit the team as a whole, coaches also emphasize the importance of spatial awareness and encourage players to be aware of their surroundings and anticipate the actions of their teammates and opponents.
Under 12’s & 13’s
Players are now at a stage where they are extremely comfortable with the fundamentals of the sport, coaches strive for individual and team excellence, focusing on helping players excel in their specific roles within the team. The emphasis is on refining their technical abilities, tactical understanding, and game intelligence. Players are encouraged to take initiative and showcase their leadership skills while remaining committed to the success of the team, this age group provides a platform for players to develop their unique talents and become well-rounded athletes with a strong understanding of teamwork and individual excellence.
Under 14’s & 15’s
These sessions are meticulously crafted to foster holistic player development, prioritising fundamental skill acquisition, tactical understanding, physical conditioning, and mental resilience. Emphasis is placed on mastering core skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and ball control, laying a solid technical foundation crucial for success at higher levels. Tactical awareness is cultivated through drills and exercises designed to enhance players' understanding of positioning, movement off the ball, and team shape.
Additionally the 15’s will have strength, speed, and agility training integrated to optimise physical conditioning, ensuring players are physically prepared for the demands of men's football. Mental aspects such as decision-making under pressure, confidence-building, and resilience to setbacks are also addressed, equipping players with the psychological tools necessary to thrive in competitive environments.
Girls only
All the above principles from mixed-gender sessions apply to girl-only sessions. These sessions aim to create a space where girls feel supported and empowered, allowing them to focus on their skill development without any limitations or barriers. The sessions will also foster healthy competition among the participants, equipping them with the necessary skills and mindset to excel in their respective sports.
